Family partnerships
We’re better when we work together
No-one knows your loved one like you do.
No-one else has had to fight the way you’ve had to fight for them.
No-one else really understands the full impact of that.
We’re part of ‘the system’ in Somerset, Cornwall and across the South West too, so it would be unwise for us to pretend that here everything will always be perfect. But:
How we will work with you to get things right
We will listen – really listen – to you.
We will work in partnership with you.
If things go wrong we will speak with you straight away and do our level best to put them right.
We will live our values – ambition, integrity, courage, respect and partnership – in each and every interaction we have with you.
On these pages you’ll find useful information, you’ll learn what to expect from us, what we believe in, how we work, and how you can get involved in your loved one’s support.
How you can get involved
If you’re able to, we’d like you to:
- Help us choose the right support team for your loved one.
- Be part of support planning and reviews.
- Speak up early if you think things are not going well.
Our Family Charter
Created with families, the Dimensions (including Discovery) family charter outlines our commitment to working with you and how you can help us. Covering communication, making decisions, health and wellbeing and when things go wrong these promises are ingrained in the ways we work with you.
Contact a family consultant
Dimensions has a dedicated helpline for families of the people we support nationally including here with Discovery in the South West. The helpline is open from 10am to 12pm, Monday to Friday.
Our family consultants – all of whom have children with support needs, many of whom are supported by Dimensions – are available to answer your questions and provide support.
Call us on 0300 303 9161 or email: Family.helpline@dimensions-uk.org
