The internship is part of the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) supported employment programme, which offers meaningful work opportunities for young people. Discovery provides tailored support throughout the placement, helping interns develop skills, gain confidence, and make the most of the experience. Discovery Job Coach, Helen Kellaway, works closely with Andrew and Sophie, helping them prepare for tasks, build professional skills, and overcome workplace challenges.
At Lush’s Green Hub, old packaging and materials are recycled or repurposed to reduce landfill waste. The placement allows Andrew and Sophie to gain practical experience while contributing to environmental sustainability. By combining skills development with meaningful work, the internship helps them see the tangible difference they can make, giving them a real sense of achievement and purpose.
They are supported in the workplace by Lush Green Hub Business Manager Alex Unwin and the wider Lush team, who provide a welcoming and inclusive environment. The partnership between BCP and Discovery ensures that interns are fully supported, valued, and able to develop professional skills in a way that meets their individual needs.
Andrew and Sophie’s first weeks at the Green Hub have already demonstrated the positive impact of supported internships. Their progress highlights how the BCP supported employment programme, together with Discovery, helps young people unlock their potential, gain confidence, and prepare for future employment while contributing to meaningful work in the community.
Discovery is proud to support Andrew and Sophie on this journey and looks forward to seeing them continue to grow, learn, and make a lasting impact during their time at Lush.
