Mark savours sunny canal adventure

Mark from Shepton Mallet recently enjoyed a memorable day out on the local canals, marking a delightful step in his journey towards greater independence.

. Known for preferring to stay close to home, Mark has been embracing bus trips more regularly, enjoying meeting new people and chatting along the way – a success story in itself.

Combining his love of water with a sunny summer day, Mark happily agreed to a canal boat trip organised by his support team. He invited his close friend and housemate, Martina, to join him, and the pair were full of excitement as they arrived at the canal side. A relaxing moment at the café gave Mark a chance to soak in the lively atmosphere before boarding.

Once on the boat, the peaceful journey began, complete with scenic countryside views and the gentle sounds of the engine and passing waterbirds. A delicious lunch stop halfway through added to the enjoyment. Throughout the trip, Mark and Martina were visibly calm, relaxed, and thoroughly delighted by the experience.

The outing highlighted not just a love of water, but also the positive impact of encouraging small steps towards independence and new experiences. It was a sunny, joyful day that left both Mark and those supporting him with wonderful memories.
