A high-flying aspiration with a deep heart
Robert thought a skydive would be a great way to raise much-needed money for this charity. The team supported Robert to make it happen from finding him an instructor from Somerset Adventures and training at the gym to getting a doctor’s appointment to check his suitability.
Dizzying heights in a different way……
The results from the doctor’s assessment seemed to be taking a while and that’s when the plans took a different turn. The doctor felt that due to pre-existing conditions, a skydive might not be suitable. Never one to shy from a challenge Robert decided he just needed to be creative and come up with a different plan. He decided on doing an abseil from the top of Split Rock Quarry. He completed this in less than two minutes, four times over, with a 20 minute hike to the top each time – raising a staggering £3000.
Robert is thrilled by what he has accomplished with the support of the team at Discovery. The ambitions, goals, wishes, and bucket lists of the people we support are central to our actions.
